BRIAN'S BIO

I developed a passion for exercise and fitness during my undergraduate career at the University of Maryland. By the time I graduated, I was working out all the time--sometimes twice a day. My first job out of college was as a swim coach for the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club. I also worked as a master's swim coach for adults for Montgomery County Dept. of Recreation. While coaching, I began to notice the positive effects that exercise had on both adults and children. The more I coached, the more I wanted to help others improve their health.

In 1990, with the support and encouragement of my family, I enrolled in a master's of science program in Health/Fitness Management at American University in Washington, DC. During the next few years, I submerged myself in learning all there was to know about health, fitness, and all aspects of exercise. I worked at the Army Materiel Command Fitness Center in Alexandria, VA, and did my internship at the West End Executive Fitness Center in Washington, DC. Eventually, I narrowed my focus to personal training. At 28, I had finally figured out my life's mission.

After graduate school, I worked as a fitness instructor at the Athletic Express health club in Gaithersburg, MD, and later as Fitness Director for the Army Research Lab in Adelphi, MD. Finally, I began my work as a personal trainer for the health club Sport and Health in Mclean, VA. At that time, I began to dream of starting my own personal training business. So, after a year of working as a personal trainer, I believed that I had acquired the ability, knowledge, experience, and motivation to succeed in my own business.

During my career as a personal trainer I have spoken to numerous groups and organizations about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise and fitness. I have been heard all over the world via radio and the world-wide web on WUST- New World Radio. Brian lives in Derwood, Maryland with his wife, and three girls.

TATYANA'S BIO

For more than 10 years, I have been working as a personal trainer and yoga\pilates instructor for the JCC. This decade was an amazing period of time for me. I built strong relationships with my students who became almost like family to me. We grew strong together and discovered how well our bodies respond when challenged. I believe that disciplined, continuous training truly renders age just a number; your body can be strong, limber, and toned no matter what your age.

Tatyana

Exercise has always been a big part of my life. Ice-skating, competitive gymnastics, and cross country skiing were my favorite activities as a child growing up in Moscow, Russia. I strongly believe in cross-training and individualized fitness routines that combine weights and stretching to prevent injuries. Working for the physical therapy department at Holy Cross Hospital provided me with valuable experience in learning to prevent injuries and assist with rehabilitation. Currently I work with Pilates Reformer machines and just love them. They provide an amazing way to condition and lengthen muscles at the same time.

In 2003, I started a new Yoga Fit program at the JCC. The program is designed for all ages and levels, and has gained a huge following. In addition, last year, my workshops on balance and preventing falls for those over age 60 were featured in “Portraits of the People of Montgomery County” on MCPS television.

In my spare time, I love to be with my family—my biggest source of inspiration. My daughter is a senior in high school and a cross country champion. In addition, I love to cook and I know many healthy recipes that I enjoying sharing with clients. My hobbies include performing arts, skiing, swimming, and dancing.
